| This is the first version of a commissioned dog portrait that I decided to keep because I didn’t think it fit the description of what the client, a man named Charlie, wanted. It is much to smooth and elegant, too Sargent-esque, for the Lucien Freud or George Bellows type style to which the client was attracted. When I remembered them say, “Don’t make it cute”, I realized I had to do it over. |
